Q: Where does your artist name come from? A: My artist name (Kontrast Boy) comes from a my personal psychedelic experience that i lived with a friend. We elaborated about deep discourses, philosophical and we understood how is important the contrast in our life. The contrast forms a whole of elements that they cause a score. “THE SAME LIFE IS FORMED BY ELEMENTS, IN THE BIRTH, IN THE SOCIAL LIFE, IN THE SEXUAL LIFE, IN THE INNER LIFE, IN THE NATURE, IN EVERYTHING... CONTRAST GENERATES ANSWERS AND THE ANSWERS GENERETE QUESTIONS AS WELL, AND NECESSARILY CREATE THE SAME CONTRAST.” So i understood that mixing some musical genres i could find the key for do something special. Aim’s of this project is describe the sensuality, the passion and the transgression.
Q: Tell us more about your musical roots! A: My music passion was born when i was 4/5 years old, listening my father’s vinyls (Pink Floyd, Vangelis, Alan Person Project, The Doors, etc..). When i was 6/7 years old i received my first “Roland E-12” and i entertained myself, recording my compositions, i learnt some musical theory and when i was 12 years old, i started to listening Hip Hop, RnB (Cypress Hill, Public Enemy, Marvin Gaye, Fugees, Busta Rhymes, etc..). “Confusione Pubblica” was my Crew and i wrote texts and i did some breaks like an “Mc”. I organized some concerts around my region and after, producing bases for my group i started to know my “production world”. After 5/6 years of Hip Hop experience i discovered the Psychedelic and Rave Scene. This kind of music gave me the possibility for convey emotions throughout the beat! However i love all kinds of music if they describe passion, sensuality, and transgression. Especially the underground genres like Hip Hop, Dub, Electronica, Drum’n’Bass, Trip Hop, Break Beat and all their derivations.
Q: How did you start producing music? A: My first approach with the keyboard was at 6/7 years old while with the music programs at 13/14 years old.
Q: Are you also a DJ? A: Yeah.. I love so much mixing!! And sometimes i play my music at the parties with a synth!!
Q: Do you work together with other artists also? E.g. Remixes? A: No, until now i worked alone, but i’d like to do a featuring or a remix with someone else!!
Q: Do you have any special musical aims? A: Yes! My principal aim is the creation of an unmistakable style mixing ecstasy, passion, sensuality, contentiousness and giving to the people the same things that it gives to me!!
Q: What do you think of the contemporary popular music which is played by normal radio stations? A: I think there’s too much same music and some artists identify themselves following other artists and not following themselves. I think music needs more personality in the own style and i think it needs some new alternatives, especially describing more feelings.
Q: What have you read recently (book, play, film, etc.) that moved or surprised you? A: Yes, i read Castaneda’s “The Dreaming Art” and after i fascinated some films like: “Profumo”, “The Devil reject”, “Crank”, “Saw”, “Apocalipto”, “ Blueberry” , “The Wall”, etc..
Q: What is your all-time favorite track? Why? A: Well.. I like many tracks, but my favourites are: “Pink Floyd – The dogs of war” that it rebukes the 70’s and the social disputes of that period. For me this song conveys sensuality, wickedness, frenzy and it gives me strong emotions all times! It make me the creeps!Prodigy – Narayan make me feel good, but the best cd of ever is “The Momentary lapse of Reason.! It gave me so much and i listen it every time before going to play!
Q: What's one thing you're a fan of that people might not expect? A: No Comment |
